Police Pledge Support for ECG

The Ghana Police Service has pledged its utmost support for the Electricity Company of Ghana, Eastern region, to assist in arresting customers who engage in illegal connection activities.

The Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP George A. Mensah, pledged the support of his outfit to the ECG when the Eastern Regional Management team of ECG paid a curtesy call on him at the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters in Koforidua.
According to ACP Mensah, the Ghana Police Service is very ready to assist the ECG in any form to arrest culprits of illegal connection and other crimes that affect the operations of the ECG in the Region.
He noted that the ECG, over the years, has launched several campaigns against illegal connections and said customers who ‘steal’ power must be punished to deter others from committing similar offence. ACP Mensah therefore promised to offer his support in the fight against illegal connection in the Region.
The Regional Police Commander lauded the efforts of the ECG in the Region in providing constant and quality supply to its customers, and urged the Management team not to hesitate to fall on his outfit for any assistance.
He said the Police have a duty and responsibility to ensure peace and order in the society and people who commit criminal offences such as stealing power must be punished by the law. He reiterated the Police’s readiness in assisting ECG in the fight against illegal connections in the Region.
On behalf of the ECG Management Team, Ing. Michael Baah, expressed the Company’s gratitude to the Ghana Police Service for their support for the ECG over the years, and also assured ACP Mensah of ECG’s support to the Police Service in the Region.
