ECG Celebrates 50years. +++ 50 Years of Powering the Socio-Economic Growth and Development of Ghana

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Limited’s attention has been drawn to information circulating on media platforms claiming that ECG will increase service charges effective 1st December, 2018.

ECG wishes to state that it has not circulated any such document; neither has it taken any decision to seek PURC’s approval to increase its charges. The fake document circulating on media platforms should therefore be ignored.

We wish to inform our cherished customers and the general public that our service charges are part of PURC’s mandate of regulating the commercial operations of ECG.
We therefore wish to assure customers that ECG does not have the legal right to, and will not increase service charges without authorisation.

ECG: THE NAME BEHIND ELECTRICITY IN GHANA

The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) wishes to inform the general public that our attention has been drawn to an information circulating on media platforms claiming that ECG has increased electricity tariffs.

ECG wishes to state categorically that it has not increased electricity tariffs, and that it does not have the mandate to do so.

The general public should note that it is only the PURC which has the mandate to review tariffs and enforce its implementation. The current electricity tariffs being applied is the March 15, 2018, PURC approved tariffs which led to the reduction of electricity amongst all categories of customers.

The general public is once again being assured that ECG operates within the confines of the laws of Ghana, and is still applying the March 2018, PURC gazetted tariffs.

PRESS BRIEFING

14th March, 2018.

PURC 2018 MAJOR TARIFF ADJUSTMENT (REDUCTION) REVIEW EFFECTIVE 15TH MARCH, 2018.

On behalf of the Electricity Company of Ghana, I wish to inform our cherished customers and the general public that the PURC major tariff review (reduction) effective 15th March, 2018, will be implemented as announced.

However, the monthly billing cycle of the prepayment metering system does not technically allow ECG to implement the review in the middle of the month. Consequently, prepaid customers of ECG should note that the programming of the billing system will refund the reduction from the implementation date of 15th to 31st March, 2018, when they deposit cash or purchase electricity from 1st April, 2018 onwards.

The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) wishes to inform the general public that our attention has been drawn to an announcement circulating on social media claiming that ECG is recruiting to enhance its workforce.

We wish to state categorically that this announcement is false and should be ignored.

The general public is to note that, when such announcement is officially made, it will be advertised in print media, on radio and television and can be verified on the ECG Website (www.ecggh.com) and our social media handles.
